Recent studies from
the National
Consumers League shows that the number of reported
Internet scams is record high this year.
Apart from exercising common sense and a healthy dose
of skepticism there are several precautions you can take
to avoid becoming another fraud victim:
|
|
Guard your personal information |
|
Don't provide
anyone with information that you're uncomfortable giving.
Don't provide anyone with information without knowing
the exact reason for why they need it.
Never give anyone the password that you use to log on
to your online account, Internet Service Provider or any
other online services.
Don't provide financial account information unless you
are paying for a purchase using that account.

|
Check the casino's reputation |
|
Learn as much as you
can about the casinos' reputation and past history BEFORE
making any deposits.
Check the casino at
The Online Player's Association and The
Internet Gaming Commission to see if the casino is
licensed or have had any previous disputes with players.
You can also check our forum for our players experiences
and share your own.
Bear in mind that just because a casino has no complaints
or a good reputation, it doesn't guarantee that you won't
have any problems.

|
Consider transaction costs |
|
Remember that casinos have variable
delivery costs when sending you your winnings. Fortunately
most casinos use the cheapest option - regular mail cheque
- as the default delivery method, but don't be sure of
it.
|
|
Pay the safest way |
|
Credit cards are generally the
best way to pay because you have legal rights to dispute
the charges if the product or service is misrepresented
or never delivered.
You also have limited liability if your card number is
stolen or misused.
You don't necessarily have the same protection when you
are billed through other third parties, such as your telephone
company. And your legal dispute rights are not the same
when you pay with a debit card as with a credit card,
though most debit card issuers voluntarily offer similar
protection. If you pay by check or money order, by the
time you realize there is a problem your money will probably
be gone.

|
Keep records |
|
Keep records of all your transactions
with the individual casino. Check all amounts being withdrawn
from or deposited to your account. If you do business
with more than one casino at a time be sure to plot all
information into an effective and well arranged chart.
